El León y la Domadora

by Antonio Orlando Rodríguez

The Lion and the Tamer is a journey´s chronical of a nonexistent place: the “promised land”. Antonio Orlando Rodriguez uses farce and absurdity as magnifying glasses to better see reality through two circus characters - a depressed and dependent lion and a tamer determined to find a better life - in his approach to the topic of exodus and exile. A caustic fable, and at times tender, the roles of the human being and the beast get confused and overlap, both condemned to live in a cage within another cage, within other millions of cages. This dramaturgical proposal of the author of the novel Chiquita (2008 Alfaguara Prize) and of the collection of stories Salchichas vienesas and other fictions (Huso) approaches, in a unique way, one of the great social conflicts of the contemporary world. CAST: Juan David Ferrer y Geraldine Townson
