ABOUT US

MarGi Happenings was born from the shared vision of two close friends, Marilyn Romero and Gigi González, united by a deep love and passion for theatre, the performing arts, and music. Together, they envisioned a company dedicated to creating, producing, and presenting high-quality theatrical works and artistic happenings that would enrich, diversify, and contribute meaningfully to Miami’s vibrant artistic landscape.

Firm believers in the transformative power of the arts, the co-founders embrace art as a vital force capable of touching lives, fostering connection among people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and cultivating empathy, love, and mutual respect. These guiding principles shape every MarGi Happenings production and remain at the heart of its mission—to inspire, unite, and make a lasting contribution to Miami’s cultural heritage through artistic excellence and integrity.

Through the universal language of theatre and the performing arts, we bring together people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds to foster dialogue, empathy, understanding and a shared human experience contributing to a more unified, tolerant, and compassionate society.

MARILYN ROMERO – FOUNDER / ARTISTIC DIRECTOR


Cuban actress and director with more than 35 years of artistic and theatrical experience. Having starred in more than 45 theatrical plays, her career also includes television and film. Her excellent interpretation of characters like Laura Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, Mamaé in The Young Lady from Tacna by Mario Vargas Llosa, Chunga in La Chunga by Mario Vargas Llosa, Nancy in Some Prefer Strawberry Others Chocolate by Senel Paz, Agnes in Agnes of God by John Pielmeier, The Bride in Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca, Berta in An Empty Shoebox by Virgilio Piñera, Electra in Electra Garrigó by Virgilio Piñera, Luz Marina in Cold Air by Virgilio Piñera, Raquel or Pirulo in On the Banks of the Thames by Mario Vargas Llosa and recently Doña María in Bayamesa by Abel Gonzalez Melo, have earned her the respect and admiration of both audience and critics. For 7 consecutive years she directed the storytelling company Cuenteros & Company, host of the Miami International Storytelling Festival, one of its kind in Miami. Currently, among her many activities she promotes the practice of meditation for young people and adults and advocates for tolerance of gender diversity and cultural integration.

GIGI GONZALEZ – FOUNDER / EXECUTIVE PRODUCER


Linked to the theatre for more than 40 years, she has performed technical and executive tasks in addition to acting. As an actress she has played The widow in False Alarm by Virgilio Piñera, Leonardo´s wife in Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca, María Luisa in The Day you Love Me by José Ignacio Cabrujas, Betty Parris in The Crucible by Arthur Miller, First stretcher bearer in Picnic on the Battlefield by Fernando Arrabal, Sprite in The Love of Don Perlimplín and Belisa in the Garden by Federico Garcia Lorca, Loulou in The Sacred Monsters by Jean Cocteau, Old Lady in Rockefeller in the Far West by René De Obaldia. Gigi was a faculty member, Professor, in the EAP Department at Miami-Dade College, Wolfson Campus, for 38 years until her retirement in 2015.

ALICE JANOSI – PRODUCER


With a long administrative career in the field of tourism and recently in medicine, Alice truly believes that art, in all its forms, is the universal language. Growing up in Miami, she has witnessed the city's cultural expansion through the years in theatre, music, dance, fine arts, and film. Today, with great enthusiasm, she joins forces with MarGi Happenings as a producer and puts her professional expertise at the service of Miami's flourishing artistic "ecosystem."

MARÍA DE LOS ÁNGELES DELGADO

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / STAGE DIRECTOR

With over three decades of professional experience in theatre, María de los Ángeles Delgado has dedicated her career to exploring and enriching every facet of the performing arts.

In Cuba, she built a solid career with the prestigious group Trotamundo, under the direction of Verónica Lynn, where she served as Assistant Director, Producer, and Stage Director in numerous productions that left a mark on the theatrical landscape of the time. Her work is distinguished by precision in the creative process, a strong commitment to the team, and a deep sensitivity to the art of theatre.

Since establishing herself in Miami, she has worked closely with Cristina Rebull on all of her stage and musical projects, participating in productions such as Esperando a Mamá (premiere and revival), Llévame a las islas griegas (premiere and revival), and Aves al viento, presented both in Miami and Los Angeles.

At MarGi Happenings, Mari has become an essential collaborator, bringing her extensive experience and artistic vision as Assistant Director and Stage Director. Her presence on the team reaffirms MarGi Happenings’ commitment to artistic excellence, collaboration, and respect for the creative process.

PEPÍN RIVERO – MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Cuban composer, guitarist, and arranger, Pepin has lived in Miami for 30 years. He composed and produced the children’s music album Cantos Viajeros and the album Rake Mate. His songs have been recorded by artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Albita, Carlos Oliva, Marisela Verena, Gema Corredera, Leslie Cartaya, Luis Bofill, and Adrianna Foster, among others. Pepin is the composer of the original music for MarGi Happenings productions.


ERNESTO PADILLA - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Ernesto Padilla (Padi) is a creative force at the crossroads of technical production, lighting design, and cultural management. He graduated in Havana, Cuba, as an Art Conservator and Restorer, where his background merges technical discipline with an artistic sensibility shaped by both theatrical environments and historic heritage.
He spent two decades in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he worked on the restoration and conservation of numerous historic monuments, weaving together preservation principles, aesthetics, and cultural meaning.
Based in Miami since 2000, he has built an extensive career in the general production of events and television programs for one of the leading national networks in the United States, while also working as a lighting designer and lighting technician for theatre productions and a wide range of live performances. He served as Technical Director of the Miami International Hispanic Theatre Festival for 24 years, contributing to the festival’s evolution while safeguarding the technical excellence of its productions.
He currently serves as the Technical Director of Margi Happenings, where his international career and multidisciplinary experience continue to provide a holistic vision in which technique, art, and cultural management converge to enhance the stage experience.

NOBARTE – JORGE NOA & PEDRO BALMASEDA

SET AND COSTUME DESIGN

The duo formed by Jorge Noa and Pedro Balmaseda integrates artistic, architectural, and interior design into their work. They are well known and highly respected within Miami’s performing arts scene for their theatrical designs, as well as for their important work in preserving and revitalizing the most beautiful traditions of Cuban art.

Jorge was born in Camagüey and holds a degree in Architecture from the Higher Polytechnic Institute in Santiago de Cuba. Pedro was born in Havana and graduated in Dentistry from the University of Havana. In Cuba, they received two Máscara de Caoba awards for their scenic design work, collaborating with numerous theater companies across the island.

They later moved to Venezuela, where they focused their work on television scenography for national networks such as Televen and Venevisión. After settling in Miami, they began directing the artistic production company Nobarte, which, in addition to artistic presentations, provides design services and the production of sets, costumes, and lighting for various groups throughout the city.

Their creations have been used by multiple theater companies, have participated in various international festivals, and have been presented on stages in Spain, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru, Slovenia, and the United States, receiving excellent reviews from specialized critics. Since its inception in 2020, they have collaborated with MarGi Happenings, contributing set design and production, lighting, and costumes that have earned outstanding praise from both audiences and the press.
